Od9jastyles : Hair Care Tips You Should Definitely Try When It’s Rainy Season

Let’s talk about hair care tips for the rainy season shall we ladies.

Hair care tips come handy around this time if you don’t want to get that damp smell (or any other smell at all) during this wet season. Since the rain is here for a while, we think it’s just perfect timing, no?

These tips for this season are perfect for those wearing short hair or long, those who have weaves in, those with braids – which by the way is the smartest hairdo for this season –  and other styles. The first rule for this season is to keep your hair dry so when you get beaten by rain by any chance, the first thing to do is to get a proper wash in because rain water contains acidic properties that damages hair, makes it brittle/dry and itchy!

After a proper wash with a mild conditioner- the Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil range rocks- you want to make sure it’s back nourished and this you do with a very good conditioner. To restore the shine and keep it strong, do the vinegar rinse; after shampooing add a few caps off vinegar to water and rinse your hair with it to get it clean and free from oil.

Let’s break the basics down in a few steps:

(Shea Moisture)

  1. Once rain gets into the hair, the first thing to do is wash with a mild shampoo, one without strong chemical as ingredient so the hair doesn’t get drown in acidic properties. This also helps to get the scalp clean and generally help the hair stay healthy. Shea Moisture shampoo from the Jamaican Black Castor Oil range is perfect.
  2. Next is to condition the hair, this can be done with deeply nourishing conditioners. Leave-in conditioners are usually best for restoring the hair’s PH balance as well as get them intensely nourished. Shop a leave-in conditioner here
  3. Afterwards dry your hair with a professional dryer. Because they are in a way regulated to not overdry your hair, the work best. Even when using the hair dryer invest in good quality ones. Drying the hair gets rid of dampness and any funny smell and keeps the scalp clean while making sure it doesn’t dry out excessively.
  4. After drying, massage in oils to treat the scalp or irritated scalp that could come as a result of being under the dryer. Basically warm up coconut oil/olive or jojoba oil and massage into the hair and scalp and leave this in overnight. This helps with hair growth and shine.
  5. Finally make sure to keep hair neatly tamed and packed in protective ways. Braids is one way to rock fab this season and here are inspirations to get you started.
