  5. Add the blended red pepper: Add the blended red pepper to the pot and cook for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens and the oil starts to separate from the pepper.
  6. Add the rice: Add the rinsed rice to the pot and stir to combine with the red pepper mixture.
  7. Add the seasonings: Add 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of thyme, and 1 teaspoon of dried crayfish (if using) to the pot. Stir to combine.
  8. Add the water: Pour 4 cups of water into the pot and stir the mixture.
  9. Cook the rice: Cover the pot and cook the rice over low heat for about 20 minutes or until all the water has been absorbed and the rice is cooked through.
